Our Story
Our Corner Booth is the home of all things handmade and homegrown, and the team effort of a husband/wife duo (Hi, I’m Ang, and my husband is Nick!). It started out as our own personal quest to fill our home with unique and handmade furniture and décor, and its name is super literal. Our first venue for selling our items was the Charlton Antiques Flea Market and Co-Op in MA, where our booth was physically positioned… in the corner. So we rolled with it. It was a lucky little spot and we loved it!
Rewind a bit, though, and the seed for our business was planted several years before we opened that first little booth, back when we moved into our first home together. At that time, we were constantly redoing furniture salvaged from curbside finds, yard sales, thrift shops, flea markets, you name it… and creating décor from bits and pieces we found along the way. This honestly stemmed from financial necessity…our twenty-two-year-old selves did not have the means to fill our home with store-bought furnishings. But this ended up working very much in our favor, as we fell in love with the process and the outcomes of turning salvage into usable furniture, so much so that we even looked forward to the late, late nights and the sometimes-very-cold garage.
While we worked, people began to take notice slowly, and then more and more often. Friends and family would ask for help with projects, or suggest that we sell pieces like the ones we’d made for ourselves. Friends of friends, coworkers, and people we happened across in our salvaging adventures began to say the same. Fast forward here, though, because we wouldn’t listen for some time still.
After several more years of gained experience and workshop trials and errors, 2018 rolled around and we felt ready (ish). We started a Facebook page, booked some events, and got to work building. It was scary at first, putting price tags on things as if we could… sell them?! But…guess what? We did! People liked our work? Holy moly. It was wonderful and weird and… it still is, actually.
Now we’re a fulltime business taking on custom orders, furniture remodels, gallery exhibitions, and craft fairs. We’ve partnered with local stores in our area to sell our goods, in addition to having launched an online shop for our house wares and décor. Our mission is to create the same feeling for you, our customers, that we have ourselves each time we step into our home – to look around and feel surrounded not just by things, but by stories. To feel like your little bit of space on this planet is uniquely and distinctly yours.
